Styracosaurus

The Styracosaurus is a medium-sized terrestrial herbivore. Able to gallop quickly, its playstyle lends itself to recklessly charging into foes and bleeding them out.

Appearance

The Styracosaurus has a stout body and short limbs. It may not be the fastest or have much stamina, but its meter-long horn can easily injure or kill smaller carnivores.

Paleo Info

Styracosaurus (meaning "spiked lizard" ) is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur from the Cretaceous Period (Campanian stage), about 75.5 to 75 million years ago. It had four to six long parietal spikes extending from its neck frill, a smaller jugal horn on each of its cheeks, and a single horn protruding from its nose, which may have been up to 60 centimeters (2 feet) long and 15 centimeters (6 inches) wide. The function/s of the horns and frills have been debated for many years. Styracosaurus were approximately 5–5.5 meters (16–18 ft) long as adults and weighed about 1.8–2.7 metric tons (2.0–3.0 short tons).

Trivia

  • Styracosaurus incorporates bull and wildebeest sounds in its calls.
  • This dinosaur's skull features on the Path of Titans logo.
  • Styracosaurus, like all ceratopsians, does not have fingernails on its two outermost front toes.
  • The quills found on the spinacaudis sub-species are speculative, and are based on the findings of Psittacosaurus fossils that possessed similar back quills.
  • Styracosaurus is one of the 3 ceratopsians found in Path of Titans, along with Eotriceratops and Albertaceratops.
