Nesting

Nesting is a feature in Path of Titans that allows a dinosaur to create eggs, where players can either be invited to be their hatchling, or be adopted. It was a stretch goal reached during the Path of Titans crowdfunding campaign, and was initially planned to be added to the game after full-release. Nesting was first released in its most basic form October 8th, 2024. Several more major updates are planned for the mechanic.

Overview

A sub-adult or older character is able to create a nest and place it down anywhere in the world. The nest needs to be constructed by bringing the materials needed to build it, which will vary depending on the playable. The first time a character makes a nest they'll receive a nesting quest, which will highlight nearby items that are needed for the nest, and provide a large amount of growth and marks upon completion.

After the nest reaches the minimum resources for each resource type, it will start to generate eggs. Once a nest has eggs you're able to invite other players to be your hatchling, or adopt players that are juvenile growth or younger and of the same diet-type. You can store food and water in your nest to give you baby a head start, and buy and place decorations around your nest for extra camouflage. If a player is nested in, they'll receive some simple nest quests, as a stand-in for the tutorial cave.

Trivia

  • It was a part of the fourth stretch goal, worth $64K AUD ~ $45K USD, and was initially planned to be added after full-release
  • The Comfortable Nest buff used to be present regardless of nest completion. This allowed any sub-adult or older dino to place down a nest anywhere for an instant free 25% health regeneration boost.
  • If your nest is obstructed upon spawning in, you can re-place it anywhere on the map, and start off with about 70% construction.
