Sachicasaurus (Primordial Tyrants)

Sachicasaurus is a large, armored fish with a powerful bite.

Description

Sachicasaurus is an extinct genus of brachauchenine pliosaurid known from the Barremian of the Paja Formation, Altiplano Cundiboyacense in the Colombian Eastern Ranges of the Andes. The type species is S. vitae. Looks like a Mosasaurus but with a shorter tail, fatter body and larger head to a thinner body but shorter tail and longer head.

Paleo Info

Sachicasaurus was a large pliosaur, with the type specimen measuring approximately 10 metres (33 ft) long and weighing 17 metric tons (19 short tons). The holotype specimen, MP111209-1, was found in 2013 and is known from a near complete skull, and postcranial elements including a complete hindlimb and various vertebrae.

Diagnostic features include a very short mandibular symphysis, reduced number of mandibular teeth (17 to 18 versus 25 to 40 in other pliosaurids), slender teeth, among other features. With a preserved length of 9.9 metres (32 ft) (which may be missing the vertebrae from the end of the tail), the specimen is interpreted as a sub-adult individual. It is one of the largest and most complete pliosaurid specimens.

Trivia

  • Before the Pounce/Grab Update, Sachicasaurus only had two head slots: Bite and Bone Snap.
  • Before the addition of Mosasaurus as a modded character, Sachicasaurus was the largest strict aquatic in the (modded) game that existed in real life. It is now the second largest in the category.
  • Sachicasaurus now is often dubbed "unviable" due to it being almost always outspeeded, outstammed and overpowered by its modern ocean competitors.
  • Sachicasaurus players are now often found in pairs, perhaps to counter Mosasaurus' superior stats in a 1-1.

Survival Tips

Avoid Mosasaurus as much as possible, as you cannot outrun one and Mosasaurus is stronger than you when face tanking. If forced into a battle with one, tail riding it is the only way to survive the attack (if it is to the death). If there are no fish in the area, your best bet is to either ambush a Eurhinosaurus, persistence hunt a Kaiwhekea or tail ride other Sachicasaurus for food.

Your easiest prey will be Ocepechelon or Archelon, as your grab and thrashing abilities allow you to quickly kill them if you're max stamina (as long as your stamina is max when you grab the Ocepechelon or Archelon, and you spam the thrash ability, the kill is guaranteed. Beware however, Archelon is very fast on land for a strict aquatic). If you encounter a KTO Deinosuchus, avoid its debuff that decreases your speed significantly.

Try to bone break it yourself to force it into a face tanking fight, which it will lose. Against a DB Deinosuchus, tail ride it after bone breaking it. It is very strong, to the point that it can potentially face tank you, so do not risk a face tank with one. Against a "hibb" (often nicknamed POT's Healing Crab), which cannot deal damage to you directly, simply grab and thrash it to death. Anything else not mentioned is either easily face tanked to death, is not usually found in the ocean or is too fast to be chased.
